What is a Vintage Wedding?
Lately a lot is being said about how ‘in’ vintage weddings are, but really what does the vintage concept means? A few scattered pearls, small veils and red lips might be a few ideas to represent the old eras, but is not everything.
First of all, the word vintage is used to describe something that is not new, but that is valued because of its good condition or attractive design. As a wedding theme it may be applied to different eras or past decades. A vintage wedding may be identified because it uses color schemes, music and décor styles from the Victorian era to the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 60’s and even the 70’s. Enjoy a journey with me around the different periods in time with the photos below and choose your favorite.
The Victorian era brings the use of lace, pearls, garden tea parties, peonies, roses and pastel colors.
The 20’s are all about the Great Gatsby theme, with the opulence feel, feathers, chandeliers, expensive glassware and champagnes colors.
From the 30’s and 40’s style comes the war time glamour with the long silky dresses and red lips, the white jackets and the big bands. Also, the use of maps and old looking newspapers,
The best way to describe the 60’s style is to mention Audrey Hepburn, big skirts and pumps. She is definitely one of my favorite fashion icons. Love this era!
The 70’s are all about peace, love and nature
If you are thinking about having a vintage wedding, first decide which era you want and let your creativity flow. What’s your vintage style?
Till next time,
