Drop of knowledge: Guest list under control

I was speaking today with a couple recently engaged and the bride was so stressed about the guest list for her wedding. Indeed it can be challenging, let me suggest a simple process to help you out.

First, you need to establish the rules of the game… I guess you are thinking “Are you kidding me?” not at all. It is not a game but, you need to have fun during the whole process so… get some Champagne or Sparkling Wine, a few beers for your fiancée and some snacks since this may take a couple of hours.

After you both have agreed in budget, type of wedding (intimate or huge) and if kids will be invited or not to the wedding please start with the tips below. They will guide you in the right direction.

  • Begin your list with your immediate family (Parents, uncles, grandparents, etc.)
  • Friends in common
  • Individual friends
  • Co-workers
  • If your parents are paying for the wedding, establish how many people they can invite

Very important, add the people that you cannot imagine to live that moment without. Don’t forget to use their full name and last name. Trust me, it will make it easier for you later on.

Last but not least, do not invite people assuming they will not come, you might be surprise.

Use a computer form to keep track of the list. I find very user friendly and complete the one from The Knot.

As soon as you finalize this, you can start collecting and adding the phones, emails and addresses. Just start and you will see how easy it turns out to be.

Until next time,
