Ask Bridal Savvy: When should I start planning my wedding?
Oh the frightening “when” questions that haunt the minds of brides to be! That time frame, that helps you schedule your life for the next months of preparation of the one day you have been waiting for all your life: your wedding day. Lots of brides don’t know when is the right time to start the preparations and it’s totally understandable. And that is why many couples choose to hire a wedding planner, so that the time management does not become that stressful.
But to those of you that prefer the “do it yourself” way, my recommendation would be that the first thing that you have to do is set the date. Just think of that one time of the year that you see yourself walking down the aisle with your beautiful white dress, celebrating with your family the love you both share and parting on a romantic honeymoon getaway with your loved one. It is very important to remember that the couple, both of them, have to agree to the date, since it will mark both of their lives forever. Then, once you have the day, you should start the preparations 10 to 12 months prior. That way, you will have plenty of time to make a good research of what you want, make all the mistakes and changes that you have to, and be sure of all the important decisions that you have to make in those crucial months. Remember that these months prior to the wedding day should be enjoyable and even though there will be moments of weight loss and stress every once in a while, it is a time of celebration of the one thing that puts a smile on every human’s face, love.
